I agree, padi is one big money spinner, if you want to learn to dive go GUE, its the best out there and it just makes sense. the gear the people etc. I am a padi instructor and it was the worst move I ever made.
oh by the way,,, thank you. :)
i agree with PADI being a money grabing coorporation but it does alot of things well. But i would reccomend SSI to people which In my opinion is great for both teaching and learning.
but that said in the end the basics behind diving are the same who ever you learn with. In the end of the day it's all up to the Instructor to teach you properly.

I would agree PADI always has and will be a moneydriven corporation.
For good value for money I can advise most free spirits the following...
Instead of spending 6-12 months in Sweden, take a nice two (2) week holiday in Utah, USA and get the full PADI closed and open water cert for less than 300-400 USD.
There is a really nice club and training facility in SLC that have their own open water all year around facility there. Just search for PADI cert providing clubs in Utah.
But above all, just because you have the theory pack and some hours in a pool, stay safe and don't overvalue your short time knowledge.
See, watch, learn, practice... practice... practice... The later should be repeated for your entire life to stay alive and safe. I know cause I nearly got killed while snorkeling due to nasty one ugly Murena.

@wontpayforit...firstly stop advertising your dive school, we dont care :D... and secondly 300-400 us dollars is very expensive mate...and 3rdly, why would anybody want to go to utah from sweden, when the red sea, maldives, etc are much closer. And besided, for less money they can head over to asia...for better and cheaper diving then anywhere in america
@suzuki600srad of course IANTD (International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers) will be more thurough then padi, because IANTD is traing people for technical diving (mostly) and not for recreational ...
Thanks for the upload. I'm going to take the Open Water course in Feb. and it's great to be able to read over the material beforehand. I know it's been a while, but I would really appreciate the Korean version of the manual. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Hi,
Is this the most recent edition? I am going for my PADI open water theory in march 2011 so am just checking if there are any changes I need to be aware of.
Thanks for sharing

@ Everybody:
1) PADI updates standers all the time, the updates will come with the "Undersea Journal"
2) This is for INSTRUCTORS if you are doing the course wou are better off watching the Openwater Diver Video
3) If you going to be doing your IDC/IE this will work as long as you buy the Instructor candidate workbook and get the holographic PADI thing from that (you didn't hear that from me :P )
